Window tinting requires perfectly clean glass surfaces for proper adhesion. Vehicles with excessive dirt, pet fur, pet hair, or heavy contamination on windows and interior surfaces require additional prep time before installation can begin. An extra cleaning charge will apply. Please let us know about your vehicle's condition when booking so we can provide an accurate quote.
Washington state has specific tint laws that every vehicle on the road must comply with. At Compass Window Tinting, we guarantee every installation meets state requirements. Here is what you need to know about Washington's tint laws before you book.
We measure your factory glass VLT before installation because your existing glass already has its own light transmission rating. Combined with the new film, the total must meet the 24% minimum — we handle this calculation precisely so you never have to worry.

Every Compass Window Tinting installation follows a meticulous 7-step process that ensures perfect results and long-lasting film performance. We never cut corners — your vehicle receives the same care regardless of whether it is a 10-year-old sedan or a brand new luxury vehicle.
Typical appointment time: 2-4 hours depending on vehicle type and windows being tinted. Most customers return the same day.
Mobile service: We offer mobile tinting at your home if you have a covered garage. Mobile service is available for an additional $50. Call (425) 988-9877 to confirm availability in your area.
Every window we tint starts with a computer-cut pattern — not freehand cutting on your vehicle. We use a digital plotter system loaded with precise templates for thousands of vehicle makes, models, and years. Your film is pre-cut to the exact dimensions of your windows before it ever touches your glass.
Computer-cut templates are measured down to the millimeter for your specific vehicle. The film arrives at your window pre-shaped to match every curve, corner, and edge — eliminating guesswork and ensuring consistent coverage across all windows.
Freehand cutting means a razor blade is dragged across your window to trim the film in place. This risks scratching your glass, cutting into rubber seals, and damaging defroster lines. With computer-cut patterns, there is no cutting on the vehicle — your glass and trim stay untouched.
Pre-cut film means cleaner, more uniform edges with no jagged lines or uneven gaps. Installation is also faster because the technician can focus entirely on application and adhesion rather than trimming. Less time = less chance for dust or debris to get trapped under the film.
Digital cutting minimizes film waste and ensures every vehicle of the same make and model gets the same precise result. Whether you are our first customer of the day or our last, the quality is identical because the pattern is digitally locked in.
We offer two ways to get your vehicle tinted: visit our Everett shop or have us come to you with our mobile tinting service for just an additional $50. Both options deliver the same premium films, computer-cut patterns, and professional installation quality.
Our Everett shop is a controlled environment built specifically for window tinting — climate-controlled, dust-free, and equipped with professional lighting for flawless results.

We offer six shade options: 5%, 15%, 20%, 35%, 50%, and 70% VLT (Visible Light Transmission). A lower percentage means a darker tint. Washington state requires a minimum of 24% VLT on front side windows for all vehicles — our team will advise you on which shades are legal for your specific windows and vehicle type.
Most window tinting jobs take 2-4 hours depending on your vehicle type and which windows you're tinting. Sedans typically take 2-3 hours, while larger SUVs or trucks may take 3-4 hours. We'll give you a time estimate during your consultation.
The darkest legal tint on front side windows in Washington is 24% VLT (Visible Light Transmission). SUVs and trucks have no VLT limit on rear side and rear windows. Sedans must maintain 24% VLT on all windows. Read our complete WA tint laws guide.
Nano Ceramic+IR Film and Ceramic Film both come with a lifetime warranty. Carbon Film comes with a 10-year warranty. Actual lifespan depends on climate, sun exposure, and maintenance habits. Our ceramic-based films are designed to never fade, bubble, or discolor.
Not immediately. We recommend waiting 48-72 hours after tinting before washing your windows. This allows the film to fully cure. After the cure period, wash gently with a soft cloth and mild soap. Avoid high-pressure water on newly tinted windows.

Yes, window tinting is legal in Washington with specific VLT limits. Front side windows must allow at least 24% of light through. We measure your factory glass and apply the correct film to guarantee compliance. Every Compass Window Tinting installation is WA-legal guaranteed. See our window tinting cost guide for more information.
Compass Window Tinting is located in Everett, WA and serves the entire greater Seattle and Puget Sound region. If you're outside our immediate area, call us — we often accommodate customers from across Snohomish, King, and Kitsap counties.
We want every customer to know exactly what to expect after their tint is installed. Window tinting is not an exact science — applied film will not have the same flawless appearance as factory glass, and it goes through a natural curing process before reaching its final look. All Compass Window Tinting installations follow the International Window Film Association (IWFA) quality guidelines, and we believe in being fully transparent.
During installation, we use a slip solution to position the film precisely on your glass. Some residual water gets trapped between the film and the glass — this is completely normal. Over the following days, that water evaporates and the adhesive reaches its full bond. Until then, you may notice some haziness, small water pockets, or slight distortion. Don’t worry — this is temporary and will clear up on its own.
In the days after installation, you may notice small water bubbles, a slight haze or cloudiness, minor streaks, or tiny trapped particles. These are not defects — they are a completely normal part of the drying process recognized by the IWFA as standard across the industry. Water pockets and bubbles typically disappear within 2–4 weeks. Any remaining haze clears as the adhesive fully dries.
After installation, do not roll your windows down for at least 3–5 days (longer during cooler or cloudy weather). The film needs time to bond to the glass. Rolling windows down too early can shift the film or cause edge peeling. Also avoid pressing on water bubbles — they will disappear naturally. Do not clean your tinted windows for at least 30 days.
After the 30-day curing period, clean with a soft cloth and mild dish soap mixed with water in a spray bottle. Avoid ammonia-based cleaners (like Windex), abrasive pads, and paper towels — these can scratch or damage the film. A microfiber cloth is the best choice. With proper care, your tint will look great for years.
You may notice a very small gap (1–2mm) at the top edge of your windows between the film and the gasket. This is standard and intentional — it prevents the film from catching on the rubber gasket when you roll windows up and down, which could cause peeling. In some cases where top-edge shaving is performed, the gap may be nearly invisible.
Per IWFA guidelines, tint should be inspected from about 3 feet away, in natural daylight, looking straight at the glass from both inside and outside the vehicle. From this distance, your tint should appear smooth, even, and clean. Minor imperfections visible only at very close range or extreme angles are within industry-accepted quality standards. If you have any concerns, we’re always happy to take a look.
Our installation quality standards follow the IWFA Automotive Visual Inspection Guideline for Applied Window Film (January 2020). We are committed to full transparency about what you can expect from your installation.
Our manufacturer warranties cover material defects like bubbling, peeling, and discoloration. But life happens — scratches from pets, damage from kids, chips from debris, or a windshield replacement that takes your tint with it. That’s where our No-Fault Warranty comes in. For a one-time add-on at the time of installation, we’ll replace your tint at no additional cost if it gets damaged for any reason.
